LRRG SUBMISSION... and shameless self-promotion

HQ/STEREO HERE

This video could very well be used as advertisement for the Fender P-Bass. Brazilian LRRG asch84 makes good use of the P-Bass very characteristic sound with Iron Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name"; all minutes of it... without a pick.

HQ/STEREO HERE

LRRG kdc300z asked me to be part of a collaboration video for 311's "Amber" and this is the result. "Rock Around The Web" (or R.A.W. for short) is the first of what will hopefully become a trend. I like the term "Raw Videos" better than "Collaboration Videos" better, don't you?

"...the guitar is gay..."

LRRG Submission on a Friday?!? Yes! I've gotten quite a few submissions now, so I figured I'd post the Douchebag Comment Submissions on Friday (if I have none left, then I'll resume the usual posts) and keep on posting the regular videos on Mondays. Now, on to the literary work for today:

This comment was deleted, so I don't have the screen shot, but the idiocy of it is still amazing.

"shity!!!!!!!!! na just playing its ok but the guitar is gay as fuck looking" -- by jorgeslived

...these people should really lead some very very sad lives. It does make you wonder, what was he expecting to get as a response? "Oh, really? I'll go switch guitars. Thanks for telling me!".

RIME OF THE NOT-SO-ANCIENT SWEDISH GUITARIST

If I'm listening to some Iron Maiden it's the fault of two LRRG's: Rob (zodiakironfist) and Dave (PDXguitarlegend).

So I set out (not literally) to find out what other LRRG's could do and came across moonchild89, a young (assuming the "89" in his name is his birth year) guitarist from Sweden. Here is his rendition of "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" (in two parts), but don't stop watching there. His channel is very much worth a visit!

GOOD ENOUGH...

STEREO VERSION HERE

...is the title of the song. If I was to title this post with what I think of this rendition of Evanescence, it would be: "Man, this rendition of Evanescence's "Good Enough" by spookymoodhp is friggin' sweet!"... and that's just not proper length for a title.

EMULATING CARTER BEAUFORD... owie

STEREO/HIGH QUALITY VIDEO HERE

It never ceases to amaze me how drummers can keep their arms attached to their bodies after playing something like this. Like DTXPRESSiv demonstrates in this video, Carter Beauford is a madman when it comes to writing drum beats. Check out this kick-ass rendition of The Dave Matthews' Band's "Ants Marching"... live version!

BEN KENNEY IS A LRRG

Saturday update?! I know, it surprised me too, but this was way too cool to let it just pass.

A lot of you have probably seen this, but for those of you who haven't here's a video Ben Kenney did for his song "Eulogy" for his record "Distance And Comfort". I don't know about you, but I think this looks awfully reminiscent of some collaboration videos.

I think it's safe to say Ben Kenney is yet another Living-Room Rock God.

KILLING IN THE NAME OF HENDRIX

Two covers for today. Enjoy!

In this first one, LRRG AnissaAcoff emulates Tom Morello and does a near-perfect rendition of Rage Against the Machine's "Killing In The Name Of", without much fuss and making it look easy even. Posting this talented Living-Room Rock Goddess was way overdue.

For this second update, we go back a few decades to listen an acoutic rendition of master Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing" by Stigermeister... man, those were good times...

...I assume. I wasn't alive then.

GOT THE TIME? (with bonus)

It's been a while since I posted a piano cover. I found this guy thanks to lady footprints6837, who you might know if you're familiar with the YouTube LRRG community. With only 18 years of age, 0AdRiaNleE0 already has great skill on the piano and has his fair share of covers to show it (44, to be exact), an they're so good, it was tough picking just one to show here. I picked Coldplay's "Clocks" because I like the song and looks hard to play (although I wouldn't know since I haven't touched a piano in 20 years).

So, if you're not busy at work, or you are, but you're feeling lazy and you have a pair of headphones (since I don't want you to get fired) go check this guy's channel. If you like piano, I guarantee you'll spend a long time there.

Bonus Update: PDXguitarlegend and zodiakironfist collaborate again... with satchbooggy. Iron Maiden's "Trooper". Enough said.

Douchebagcommentism is spreading!

LRRG Susie (emusedone) submits her favorite Douchebag Comments left on some of her videos. These have to be one of the most moronic I have read. It's amazing what a specially low I.Q. can achieve. I specially like that last one... there's just something in what this jerk writes that makes me suspect he doesn't really play guitar... or anything for that matter.

How many of you would like to bet that 4oakdisaster guy doesn't have, nor has ever had, a girlfriend?

MORE QUAZ THAN YOU CAN HANDLE

If you've been a LRRG long enough, chances are you've come across a talented young musician named quaz18, also known as quaz12. If you don't know who he is, here are three videos of him to make up for the last couple of days without an update.

As quaz18 pointed out to me, there aren't any Dreamtheater covers among the many many many LRRG videos. To make up for that, here's his rendition of "The Glass Prison" in two parts:

Part 1

Part 2

And finally, something quite interesting. We take a tour of a LRRG work room as quaz18 leads the way through all his stuff, including his recording equipment, some of his instruments, and even some of the books he uses...

...his has to be one of the messiest room I've ever seen.

PURE EIGHTIES GREATNESS

I got this one from the always great LeopardJoy.

There's no doubt the guitarists from the 1980's had amazing technique, and, of course, one of the best was Eddie Van Halen. Whoever who's skilled enough to emulate his playing can already be considered a pro, or at least really talented. I don't know about you, but I couldn't find one single boo-boo in this rendition of Van Halen's "Fire In The Hole" by satchbooggy.

Now you may or (like me) may not like the music from the 1980's, but trust me, it's always mesmerizing to see someone play so good they make it look easy.

LRRG SUBMISSION

I'm seriously thinking of changing the name of this particular section to " Tensiveseth's Submissions" or just simply "Rush's Cover Corner". Once again, the always faithful Stephen submits a Rush tune. This time it's "The Pass"...

...oh, and he sings, as well.

RANCID FRIDAY

Ska bass lines can be either easy as hell, or hard... as hell. In my humble opinion, Rancid's "Time Bomb" falls into that second category, which is why bymontagne's rendition of it is very much worth the time; plus it's Friday, I know you're sitting in front of your computer at work doing nothing.

100th POST

I thought this video was quite proper for the 100th post on the site. Why? well, here's a cover of Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" featuring guitar (solos included), vocals and keyboards... done by a single guy!

acidreign4470 starts off by playing rhythm guitar and singing, quite well, I might add; then moves to the solos, still doing vocals; jumps* to keyboards to do the piano part, still with vocals; finally, jumps** back to guitar to close the song...

...and I got tired just describing it.

*The use of the word "jumps" is a figure of speech, he doesn't actually JUMP from one to the other.
**See above.

There's something really amazing about douchebags like this: the number of words they use to express themselves keeps dropping. Soon, we'll have just grunts posted on our videos: "Gah!" "Oouh!" "Pddtgh!".

AWESOME ACOUSTIC COVER

Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Road Trippin'" acoustic cover by two fellows named Nuno Valenti and Leandro Muniz, hosted in the first guy's YouTube channel, btvalenti.

Now, having just said that, before pushing that "play" button, brace yourself and prepare to be blown away. You've been warned.

LRRG SUBMISSION

Italian guitarist Matteo (nibbiokyte) submitted this short but sweet rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Moby Dick". Enjoy!
